ASISAT OSHOLA WINS MAIDEN EDITION OF BBC WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD

Super Falcons’ forward Asisat Oshoala has been named the BBC Women’s Player of the Year. The player Liverpool Ladies FC of England, was presented with the award on Monday evening after the friendly international between the Nigeria and Canada senior women teams at the Kia Training Ground, Toronto, which ended 0-0.

Oshoala, who is with the Nigeria senior women team at their pre-World Cup training camp, was the clear winner of the inaugural edition of an award voted for by readers.

Oshoala won the coveted award ahead of Spain's Veronica Boquete, Germany's Nadine Kessler and Scotland's Kim Little and also Brazilian forward Marta.
