The Senate on Thursday 29 October, 2015 afternoon approved and confirmed the nomination of Prof. Mahmood Yakubu
as the new Chairman of the Independent National Election Commission, INEC, in a unanimous voice. This came after he was subjected to rigorous screening.
Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki presided
over the process which also witnessed the approval and confirmation of the nomination of Solomon Adedeji Soyebi, Mohammed Mustapha Lecky, Amina Zakari, Anthonia Taye Okoosi Simbine and Baba Shettima Arfo as national commissioners of the national electoral body.
Saraki thereafter commended his colleagues for their participation in the screening and the quality of questions the Senators asked the nominees.
